Immediate Opening at Stamford Hospital
The
Department of Surgery at Stamford Hospital is seeking a BC/BE general
surgeon with fellowship training in surgical oncology to join our team
at Stamford Hospital.
The Hospital is a community academic medical center (Level II Trauma) with comprehensive surgical services in all-surgical subspecialties. The Department of Surgery has a freestanding residency program with rotating students and is affiliated with Columbia University School of Medicine.
Note the photo below of our brand new, world-class hospital! It is due to open in September 2016. As part of the new hospital project, we are constructing a new 48,000+-square foot Emergency Department and Trauma Center. It will increase the number of treatment rooms from 21 to 48, with all beds in private rooms. The new Emergency Department will incorporate separate treatment areas for trauma, cardiac, urgent, behavioral health and pediatric patients.
The Carl and Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center (BCC) at Stamford Hospital provides the highest clinical standard of care in the area, in a warm and supportive environment, for more than 20 years. Patients can receive chemotherapy, radiation therapy and support services in one location.
At the BCC, our multidisciplinary team is led by board-certified physicians and includes radiation therapists, oncology nurses, nurse navigators and a fulltime cancer genetic counselor. Clinicians come from some of the best institutions in the country to be part of our team. The BCC combines the strength of technology and advanced clinical knowledge with care that treats each patient as an individual. Approximately 1,000 new cancer patients are diagnosed at Stamford Hospital each year. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer has acknowledged Stamford Hospital’s Cancer Program as providing high quality care to cancer patients by awarding us the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award.
